While men's fashions didn't change much thru the years (nice shirt, slacks and later jeans), ladies fashions changed quite a bit!  Pictured here is a page out of the Sears catalog, 1961.  While we were still in kindergarten, our dresses looked a lot like these!  Oh, and hats were still in vogue for church.

Hairstyles - guys had it short.  Or butched.  That's it.  Ladies meantime went thru a lot of effort for hair.  It was permed, curled, short to mid-length and maybe some short bangs.

Between Kindergarten and 7h grade, some of the changes that hit the world included:  The Beatles.  Marilyn Monroe died.  The first Walmart opened. John F. Kennedy was killed.  The ZIP code was introduced.  The Vietnam war escalated.  The first Ford Mustang ran off the line.  The Civil Rights Amendment was put in place.  The "space race" continued to make front page news.  Medicare was put in place. Vietnam protests were common.  The mini-skirt was introduced.  Star Trek began it's run.  The Rolling Stone magazine was first published.  Martin Luther King and Bobby Kennedy both were assassinated.  James Bond, 007 films started.  Each of these items had an impact on our lives, whether we realized it or not.
