Steven C. Sebby, 65, of Clarion, passed away Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at the Iowa Specialty Hospital in Clarion.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at First Lutheran Church, 420 First Street North West in Clarion, with Pastor Bill Kem officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Clarion.
Visitation will be held on Monday, February 21, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Ewing Funeral Home, 1801 Central Avenue East in Clarion, and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday.
Steven Cole, son of James and Susan (Cole) Sebby, was born on July 7, 1956 in Clarion. Steve grew up in Clarion and graduated from Clarion High School in 1974. After high school, Steve attended and graduated from the University of Iowa. He came back to Clarion where he worked and later purchased Coast to Coast Hardware. Steve owned the hardware store for 36 years.
Steve loved the outdoors - hunting, fishing, and being on the lake. He took trips to Colorado to elk hunt and was a member of Pheasants Forever and Ducks Unlimited. He enjoyed the lake life, living at Lake Cornelia and boat trips around the lake with friends.
Steve was a Boy Scout, achieving the highest rank of Eagle Scout. Steve was a lifelong member of First Lutheran Church. He took great pride in the Clarion community and being active in town.
Steve is survived by his mother Susan Sebby of Clarion; sister Jayne Sebby of Lincoln, Nebraska; brother Scott (Deb) Sebby of Clarion; niece Leah (Kyle) Wiederin; nephew Grant Sebby; great-nephew Wyatt Wiederin; and fiancée Danny DeVries of Clarion.
He is preceded in death by his father James Sebby; and grandparents Joe and Alice Sebby and Ken and Lois Cole.
Michael D. Lindstrom, 53, of Webster City, died Thursday, April 22, 2010 at his home following his courageous battle with lung cancer . Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Foster Chapel, with Rev. Linda Bibb officiating. Visitation will be after 8:30 a.m. Wednesday until service time. Michael Dean Lindstrom, son of Wallace and Mardell Jergenson Lindstrom, was born June 4, 1956 at Clarion. He graduated from Clarion High School. On February 1, 2002, he married Marijane Schossow at Fort Dodge. The couple resided in Webster City. Douglas L Bruns, 49, of Oakfield, Wis, formerly of Waterloo, died Thursday, Oct 27, at his home, He was bom Sept 5, 1956, in Belmond, son of Curtis and Bonnie Iarsen Bruns. He married Nadine Bonorden Hines Oct 14, 1978, in Jubliee. He was a 1973 graduate of East High School and following high school worked as a chef for 18 years at Nino's Steak Round-Up. He later was employed with Asplundh Tree Trimming Service and was eventu ally transferred to Wisconsin Most recently, he was employed with Milton Propane Company as a delivery driver and mechanic in Waupun, Wis, and surrounding areas until May 2005 when illness forced him to retire He loved to read and watch western action movies at home Fie enjoyed the outdoors, fishing target shooting, camping and riding motorcycles. He recently fulfilled a lifelong dream when he became the proud owner of a Harley Davidson, which he used as his main form of transportation year-round. Most of all Doug cherished his grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them. Cindy was born on January 28, 1956, in Clarion, Iowa, the daughter of Harold and Audrey (Amosson) Naefke. Cindy spent her younger years growing up on a farm with her two loving parents and two sisters. She graduated from Clarion High School and went on to receive a Bachelors Degree from the University of Northern Iowa. She spent most of her life in Urbandale, Iowa in her career as a social worker, and also worked for the State of Iowa as a Disability Examiner.
Survivors include her daughter Kaitlin (Jesse) Scott of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, sisters Debby (Tom) Winch of Marshalltown, Iowa Kathy Naefke of St. Paul, Minnesota, many nephews, nieces, great-nephews and nieces, and a few best friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents Harold and Audrey Naefke and brother-in-law Dean McMullen.
Cindy was a kind soul, fun spirit, and a social butterfly. She loved to travel and experience new places. In her free time, she enjoyed reading, cooking, shopping, and seeking out new restaurants to try with her friends. She volunteered and attended church as often as she could. Cindy was a special person to everyone she met, before, during, and after her journey with dementia. Her bright blue eyes melted hearts, her smile was contagious, and her giggle was her trademark.
Cindy spent many years caring for others as a social worker, but her number one role was being a mother to her only daughter, Kaitlin. Kaitlin was her pride and joy and when Cindy could no longer care for herself, Kaitlin was there every step of the way. She learned from the best.
Sherry Peterson, 61, of Clarion passed away Saturday, February 11, 2017.
Funeral services for Sherry Peterson will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, February 16, 2017 at Ewing Funeral Home, 1801 Central Avenue East in Clarion, with Pastor Doug Love officiating. Burial will be held at a later date.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at Ewing Funeral Home in Clarion, and will continue one hour prior to services at the funeral home on Thursday.
Sherry Lynn Peterson was born October 7, 1955 to Morris and DiAnn (Klooster) Peterson in Clarion, Iowa. She was raised and educated in Clarion, graduating from Clarion High School in 1974.
During her high school years, Sherry worked at McConaughy’s Restaurant in Clarion and detassled corn during the summers. Most recently, she was employed as a cook at the care center in Clarion.
Sherry was united in marriage to Willie Rasmussen in 1977 and the couple made their home in Ames for a few years before moving back to Clarion.
Sherry was a lifelong member of Calvary Baptist Church in Belmond, where she was baptized and played the organ. She attended the Regular Baptist Camp in Clear Lake each summer during her high school years. Sherry enjoyed knitting, playing piano and organ, and traveling around the Midwest on various bus tours over the years. She was friendly and outgoing, made friends easily and enjoyed life. She was an animal lover and currently had a cat, Midnight.
Sherry is survived by her parents, Morris and DiAnn Peterson of Clarion; brother Jerry Peterson and lifelong friend Cindy Peterson of Milford, and brother Terry Peterson (Julie Butler) of Clarion; nephews Ted (Kendra) Peterson and their daughter of Clovis, California, Jeffrey Peterson of Fort Collins, Colorado, Vance Peterson (Jenny Good) and her daughters of Milford, and Jacob Peterson (Sydney Hersom) of Emmetsburg.
Thomas (Tim) Reed passed away suddenly on Thursday August 10th 2023 at Essentia Health Care in Virginia, MN. Landmark Funeral Home in Virginia MN is in charge of the arrangements. The services will be held at a later date in the spring. Per Tim’s wishes he was cremated and will be inurned in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Duluth, MN.
Tim passed away from complications from a recent surgery. His final years had been spent living in Crane Lake, MN where his family had previously owned and operated a small resort. His plans were to attend our 50th class reunion next year. Update Monday Aug. 28 th 2023. Received this text message from Ruth Ann Treambath, Tim’s niece. There will be a service for Tim on Sunday, September 10 th at 11:00. The service will be at Crane Lake Chapel, Crane Lake, MN. This service will be recorded (not live streamed) and posted on Crane Lake YouTube channel. The inurnment will be Monday, September 11 th at 11:00. This will be a short service with Military honors
at Veterans Cemetery in Saginaw Mn. (Close to Duluth). This service will be recorded and to view you would need a code to see it on their YouTube channel. On Friday, June 14 th 2024 there will be a memorial service for Tim. The place and time is not finalized yet but I will forward this information as it comes available.
Jane Marie Morris, 69 died peacefully with her family by her side holding her hand, Friday, July 19, 2024 at Mayo Clinic Hospital, Methodist Campus, Rochester, Minn.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, July 25, at Ward Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 310 1st Ave. North, Clear Lake, with Pastor Melinda McVey officiating. Burial will take place at Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the family in Jane’s memory.
Jane Marie was born on May 23, 1955, in Clarion, the daughter of Henry and Clara (Shaw) Harris. She attended elementary to eleventh grade in the Clarion School System. Jane moved to Clear Lake; she graduated from Clear Lake High School in the class of 1974.
On June 22, 1973, Jane was united in marriage to Lindsey Morris; to this union three children were born. Jane worked at the Clear Lake Bakery, Sperry Univac later known as Unisys, and was a Certified Nursing Aid at Oakwood Care Center until her retirement due to her liver transplant.
Jane enjoyed trips to the Casino, canning and watching movies on the Hallmark Channel. She really loved baking and selling her baked goods at the local Farmer’s Markets. She was a member of the Clear Lake Methodist Church and she regularly attended Galilean Lutheran Church with her family.
Jane is survived by her daughters, Susan Starrett, Dara (Leroy) Klink; grandchildren, Vladimir Starrett, Anna Starrett, Kion Morris, Mazikeen Morris, Joseph and Kyle; brother, Ray (Donna) Harris; sister-in-law, Glenda Harris; special friend Gary; along with several Nieces, Nephews, other relatives and friends.
Jane is preceded in death by her parents Henry (Clara) Harris, her still-born baby boy; former husband, Lindsey Morris; sister, Caroline (Kenny) Ammerman, grandson, Shane Starrett; brother, Dean Harris and her son, Michael Morris.

NEW PROVIDENCE-Lyle E. Steiner, 48, of New Providence died Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2004, at his home.
Funeral services were Friday, Nov. 19, at the Honey Creek-New Providence Friends Church. Burial followed in the New Providence Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the family.
Lyle was born July 20, 1956, in Clarion, the eldest son of Wendell and Mary Hahn Steiner. He was a 1974 graduate of Clarion High School. On May 27, 1978, he was united in marriage with Kollene Marilyn Morgan, also of Clarion. Lyle had many occupations over the years, including car and insurance sales, bus driver, carpenter and farmer. He loved to sing and spent many years with the Choralaires of Clarion, and then with the Sacred Sounds Gospel quartet. He was an EMT in Clarion, a 4-H leader in Ellsworth and a Community Club member in New Providence. He loved animals, working with his hands and his family and friends.
Lyle is survived by his wife, Kollene, of New Providence; three sons, Martin and wife Angela of Eldora, and Jason and Joel of New Providence; two daughters, Holly of Ames and Andrea of New Providence; his mother, Mary of Woolstock; a brother, Robin and wife Rebecca of Clarion; and a sister-in-law, Loralie Ashton and husband Jack of Moore, Okla. He was preceded in death by his father and an infant son, Ryan Daniel.
Karla Forbes, 60, of Eagle Grove passed away Sunday, February 14, 2016 at Iowa Specialty Hospital in Clarion.
A Celebration of Life service for Karla Forbes will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at Ewing Funeral Home, 1801 Central Avenue East in Clarion, with Reverend Nikki Guiles officiating. Following the service, Karla’s family invites you to bring a dish to share for a potluck dinner at First Baptist Church, 1210 S. Commercial in Eagle Grove.

Karla Delores (Stansberry) Forbes was born on December 6, 1955 to Harold and Phyllis (Reyna) Waddell in Clarion, Iowa. Karla grew up in Clarion and graduated from Clarion High School in 1974.
She then spent the next 20 years living in Des Moines where she met her husband, Donald Forbes. They were married on March 1, 2003.
Karla worked in different restaurants in the area gaining experience before opening her own. She and her family owned and operated Lakeside Café on Lake Cornelia.
She enjoyed spending time gardening, playing games, and listening to Elvis. She was known as the “neighborhood mom” and always had a smile on her face. Karla especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Karla is survived by her daughters, Nikki (Quenten) Guiles and their children, Wyatt, Chloe, Westin, Gaia, Athena, and Luna of New Providence, Iowa; Dorothy Stansberry (Russell Spencer) and their children, Dante and Jasper of Eagle Grove, Missy Barker of Appleton, Wisconsin; sisters, Elena Fairman of Fort Dodge, Marcy Powell of Davenport, and Tammy (Mark) Rizzio of Illinois; brothers, Harlan (Marlene) Waddell of Clarion, David (Nita) Stansberry of West Bend, Jim (Kathy) Loux of Springfield, Illinois, and John (Janette) Loux of Spearfish, South Dakota; along with many nieces, nephews, “neighborhood kids” and friends.
Karla was preceded by her husband Don Forbes in 2012, her parents, and her brother Buzz.
Stephen Leigh Studer, 56, passed away May 7, 2012 at his home. He was a computer analyst and technician for Siemens Cooperation for over 20 years, served his country in the U.S. Navy and was a member of True Word Christian Church. Mr. Struder was predeceased by his father, Maurice Studer.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Virginia A. Studer, daughter, Rebbecca L. Bittigar and her husband, Jason, son, Stephen J. Studer and his wife, Amber, mother, Charlotte A Boggs Studer and a brother, Timothy Studer.

Rusty Dow, 63, of Iowa Falls, passed away Friday, May 24, 2019 at MercyOne North Iowa in Mason City. The family will announce a celebration of life at a later date. Woodley Funeral Home, LLC of Iowa Falls assisted with cremation care.
Russell Paul Dow Jr. was born January 8, 1956 in Clarion, Iowa, son of Russell Paul Sr. and Catherine Louise (Waterhouse) Dow. He married Laurie Mutschler and to this union two children were born. They later divorced. Rusty was employed with the City of Iowa Falls, Parks and Recreation Department for several years and Meadow Hills Golf Course in Iowa Falls, as a greenskeeper before becoming disabled. He enjoyed playing golf any chance he could get and spending time with his grandchildren.

Carolyn Arlene Johnson Obituary
Carolyn Arlene Johnson, 69, of Waverly, Iowa, passed away early Monday morning, January 13, 2025, at Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community in Waverly, Iowa.
Carolyn was born on December 29, 1955, to Oliver and Grace Johnson in Grafton, North Dakota. She was baptized on January 22, 1956 at Zion Lutheran Church in Hoople, North Dakota. Her family moved to Cylinder, Iowa when she was three and later moved to the parsonage in Depew, where they lived until she was in the 8th grade. During that time, she was joined by two siblings, Annette and Keith. They moved to Clarion in 1969 where she graduated from high school in 1974. She then attended Waldorf College where she received an Associates of Arts Degree in Music. She transferred to Luther College where she graduated in 1980 with a B.A. in Religious Studies. Carolyn soon moved to Ames Iowa where she was a lab technician and then she decided to go back to school to become a beautician. She worked as a beautician for 20 years. Her favorite job was being the only beautician in a retirement community where she worked for eight years.
While in Ames, Carolyn joined the Catholic Church in 1992. She enjoyed teaching Religious Education for about six years. Carolyn especially enjoyed playing piano and organ for the Sunday morning mass for about 10 and for the Sunday evening Spanish mass for about four years at St. Cecilia Catholic Church. She taught piano lessons also for about 10 years. In 2015, Carolyn moved to Waverly to be near her parents. She worked at Trinkets and Togs for a few years and then retired. She enjoyed getting to visit her parents often and made many new friends at her living community, The Waverly Homes, and at St. Mary Catholic Church. She was a member of the Confraternity of the Immaculate Conception.
Carolyn is survived by her mother, Grace Johnson; her siblings, Annette Goihl of Minneapolis, Minnesota and Keith (LeAnn) Johnson of Clarion, Iowa; and nieces, Alexandra Johnson of Ankeny Iowa, Samantha Lizer of Rutland, Iowa; and her great-niece, Esley. She was preceded in death by her father, Oliver Johnson and brother-in-law, Jeff Goihl.
Funeral mass will be at 10:30 am on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Waverly, with Fr. Doug Wathier presiding. Visitation will start at 9:30 with a Rosary at 10:00. Carolyn's body will be cremated after the mass and inurnment will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Sidewalk Advocates for Life, Marians of the Immaculate Conception or the Wounded Warrior Project.
